Epic Games announces that it has reached a new level: there are now more than 500 million Epic Games accounts. Many of them are used to buy and play on PC. There is also a section for console and smartphone gamers for games like Fortnite and Rocket League.
Over 500 million Epic Games accounts
Those who play Fortnite on console, for example, do not need to create an Epic Games account. Instead, they’ll have an “unnamed” Epic Games account that doesn’t have its own display name or email address attached to it. Fortnite had over 350 million registered players as of May 2020, and those appear to make up a significant portion of that 500 million number.
The Epic Games Store reached over 194 million users in 2021, an increase of 34 million from the previous year. The company said that “daily active users peaked at 31.1 million, and concurrent connected users reached 13.2 million”while there were 62 million monthly active users in December.
Free games that attract
One of the ways to attract players to the Epic Games Store is to offer games every week. The quality varies, but there have been some big games before. In 2020, for example, players were able to recover for free GTA 5. The Epic Games Store attracted 7 million new players in just 24 hours with this offer. By the way, free games will continue to be available in 2022.
On the other hand, gamers spent $840 million in 2021 on the Epic Games Store, a 20% increase from 2020. Just over a third of that amount was spent on third-party games. . Last year, the best-selling third-party games on the store were Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Hitman 3, far cry 6, Genshin Impact, Darkest Dungeon, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Chivalry 2 and GTA 5.
