After a week of stalemate, the political parties of the large majority that support the Draghi government seem to have found an agreement for the election of the 13th president of the republic. The most accredited hypothesis is that of reconfirmation of Sergio Mattarella at the Quirinale. Only Giorgia Meloni’s Brothers of Italy are opposed to this hypothesis.
A reconfirmation that would guarantee stability also to the action of the Draghi government until the political elections of 2023.
It is difficult to imagine at the moment how much it will be able to to last the possible mandate of the Mattarella bis and what conditions it may request from political forces to avoid interference in its mandate. In recent weeks, the tenant of the Quirinale had expressed his opposition to this eventuality.
The ball now passes to the big voters who do they will meet at 4.30 pm for the eighth ballot which should be the final one. A majority of 505 votes is required for the election of the President of the Republic.
