Netflix continues to grow in France, so much so that the streaming service is approaching 10 million subscribers in the country. It dominates Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and all the others (it’s the same story internationally, by the way).
The milestone of 10 million subscribers is approaching for Netflix in France
According to Les Échos, Netflix has crossed the threshold of 9 million subscribers in France. In comparison, there were 8 million a year ago and 7 million in 2020. As a reminder, the platform was launched in 2014 in France and the milestone of 5 million subscribers was crossed at the beginning of 2019. It is therefore almost double three years later.
Another point put forward is turnover. This is well over a billion euros since the first subscription costs €8.99/month. The others are at €13.49/month and €17.99/month, and notably allow access to HD or 4K, as well as access by several people at the same time.
Meanwhile, Netflix announced its financial results today and revealed it has 221.8 million subscribers worldwide. This is a little less than the 222 million expected. Above all, the group only forecasts 2.5 million new subscribers for the current quarter, compared to the 4 million gained from January to March 2021. The markets reacted: the action is down 23.37% to 118, $79 at the time this article is published.
