Despite the mockery of Internet users (“Meta Quest, Meta Balaclava? »), and the criticisms of angry analysts who see it mainly as a way of tackling after the revelation of several cases, Meta has definitely just buried the Oculus brand… or almost. the twitter account from Oculus has changed its name to the MetaQuest VR account, and no further reference is made to Oculus on the Meta site, other than theOculus Store is still present at Oculus.com.

Facebook announced its name change to Meta on October 28, 2021, with Oculus Quest headsets becoming Meta Quest VR headsets. The social network giant has reportedly sold no less than 10 million Meta headsets (first and second version) and recently opened the doors of Facebook Horizon in the United States (still in draft form), which should eventually produce the vision of a metaverse, a sort of Second Life in VR.
