sony announced as soon as the takeover of Crunchyroll was completed in August 2021: Funimation and Crunchyroll just merged, which leads to the largest online anime catalog accessible via the same account, nearly 2000 anime (series or films) available! The merger also includes VRV and Wakanim, a subsidiary of Crunchyroll.

Those who are already Crunchyroll subscribers automatically benefit from the expansion of the catalog (800 exclusive Funimation anime), while Funimation subscribers are offered a special offer of 60 days premium to access Crunchyroll. In the long term, only the Crunchyroll portal will provide access to all the content and especially to the next productions (Funimation should therefore disappear in the long term even if Sony is unclear on this subject).

Already number one in the video game sector, Sony (and more precisely here Sony Pictures) is also now a giant, not to say the leaderanime online and streaming.
