Embiid and Mitchell voted players of the month

The NBA announced on Tuesday that Donovan Mitchell (Utah) and Joel Embiid (Philadelphia) had been voted best players of the month for December.

After Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry for the month of November (and the end of October), two other NBA superstars, Donovan Mitchell and Joel Embiid, were voted best players of the month for December. The leader of Utah (25) and the pivot of Philadelphia (27) are rewarded for their good first part of the season, both collectively (especially for Utah) and individually. After 37 games, the Jazz are in third place in the Western Conference (27 wins – 10 losses), two wins behind leader Golden State, and Donovan Mitchell has a lot to do with it. In December, the Salt Lake City franchise (the only one not to have had a player in covid protocol, until Joe Ingles this Tuesday evening!) won twelve games out of fourteen and “ Spida” has averaged 30.2 points, 5 assists and 3.2 rebounds in twelve games. He notably scored 39 points on December 31 against Minnesota. This is the very first time in his career, which began in 2017, that the Jazz star has been elected player of the month.

Nearly 30 points on average for Embiid in December

For his part, Joel Embiid allows Philadelphia to occupy sixth place in the Eastern Conference (20 wins – 16 losses), five wins behind leader Chicago. In December, he scored 29.2 points, took 11.2 rebounds and averaged 3.9 assists in 13 games, signing eight double-doubles, peaking at 43 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists against Charlotte on December 6. This is the third time that the Cameroonian has been elected player of the month, after January 2019 and January 2021. Rebelote in January 2022? Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder) and LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers) also received votes for this title in the West, and Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks), DeMar DeRozan (Chicago Bulls), Kevin Durant (Brooklyn Nets), Darius Garland (Cleveland Cavaliers), Kyle Lowry (Miami Heat) and Fred VanVleet (Toronto Raptors) in the East.
